I would rather promote the entire AA team to AAA than cherry pick the dumpsters.

Good thing you are not the GM or have any influence in the development of the farm system.

You do realize AAA is now basically the taxi roster for the MLB club, right. Most top prospects barely see AAA, if at all (Jose Fernandez, Mike Stanton, Christian Yelich, Matt Harvey, Strasburg, Harper, etc).

If a player spends nearly a year at AAA they are basically just a guy instead of A GUY.

Also, we would not want true starting pitching prospects destined to be more than a #3 SP spending time in the PCL. They inflated results might set a pitching prospect back development wise. Instead of working on their pitch quality they pitch to the score. Balls that fly out in the PCL ain't necessarily going to in any ballpark outside of Coors field.

Maybe it's time then to move from SLC to someplace closer to sea level? Like maybe Eugene?

True. But:

1. Good luck getting a stadium built with taxpayer money in Eugene. Is there even a market for minor league baseball there?

2. A PCL owner would have to move their club to Eugene or Arte buys a PCL franchise. The Astros recently bought all their minor league clubs I believe.

3. There are still away games.

It's all about potential. A AA player with reasonable stats has the potential to get better. A washed up/never was good MLB player will not likely figure it out at the time we give them a minor league deal. At least someone like Dontrel Willis and Chad Cordero were good at some point. I'm sure some team will give Brandon Wood a AAA job and it will be a waste of a roster spot.
