Reality check time for Arte....

If the AL West Champion $60M Oakland A's and our crosstown rival Los Angeles Dodgers both make it to the WS Arte is going to fire everybody.

I don't know about firing everybody but I strongly suspect this is quite possibly the worst outcome for Arte on who makes the World Series.

I know the organization, in the "walks are a false stat" era, hated Moneyball and refused to see it. No slight to Billy.

He was never trying to win the LA market, he knew that wasnt possible. He is trying to expand the fan base outside of OC. Not just in LA but nation wide. He has had some success at this as I live in LA County and continually see Angels gear as I have when traveling. The fans think this is a Dodgers vs. Angels battle when in reality that isn't the case.

Lol if you don't think that he didn't want to stick it to the Dodgers. There was a window of opportunity during the last couple of years of the McCourts ownership but Arte's baseball people duped him both on and off the field. Our westcoast Yankees venture has fallen short.

I would prefer if Arte didn't care at all, or if he somehow magically forgot he owned a baseball team, because then our baseball people might finally be able to get us out of this mess.

I'm don't believe the Angels are anywhere near being a mess. They were pick by many to win the west and more.

If the pitching is improved upon, which I think it will be, then our playoff chances are looking real good.

I still believe they need another Ace to compete in the playoffs.

So you honestly think he thought he could turn Dodger fans into Angels fans? You are way off base here. His goal is to expand the fan base and to attract the casual Southern California sports fan to the Angels. he wasn't trying to win over an entire city, the Dodgers have been here far to long to accomplish that. The fans made this a battle over LA, not the ownership groups. The rebranding of the team was to create a larger target audience that could connect to the identity of the franchise. He didn't do so to try and "over take" the market. Of course the McCourt era helped him out with this for awhile but you are mistaken on his ultimate agenda.
