Diamond Club Seats

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys

Just a quick question.  I was lucky enough to score some diamond club seats for opening day.  While i probably been to dozens of games at Angel stadium including knothole club etc.   I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations for diamond club area.  Like should we do the buffet (if its worth it?) or should we just order from our seats or should we get tables outside? etc.  Just curious to any positive and negative experiences.  I probably won't score diamond club seats very often so just trying to make the most out of it.  Thanks.

Tables outside have to be reserved.  And i'm sure they have been already.  (Or at least that was the case when I went there 8 years ago)

I have once eaten at the Buffet for years.  It was good.  But not a huge buffet selection like you would see at say a vegas buffet.

They do have a special menu for seat food also, so you may want to check it out before you decide.  I thought the order in the seat food was good enough to hold me over.  Usually they take a CC, and you just tab everything at the seat.  So you dont really have to get up at all.

The buffet is super expensive and didn't have a ton of food/variety for how much you pay, in my opinion.  I would sit in the seats and order food, or I think there is a bar you can walk up to to order drinks if you want to walk around a bit.

Skip the buffet.   Just take advantage of the servers in the seats.   It's not as upscale as you think, but it's nice.   If you need to deuce, the bathrooms are much better.

The nice thing about the servers is they can get you anything, not just the special stuff on their menu.  When I sit there I just get a bunch of hot dogs, etc.  The menu they give you is really expensive and the food is not very good.

Get there very early and go to the buffet. Don't worry about the money if it's a one time thing for you.  If you can score a outside table then do it ... chances are bleak on opening day. You can order your beer and snacks from the server during the game.

Get the full experience! Don't listen to these cash poor posters.

Last season my girlfriend took me to the Diamond Club for my birthday, was pretty amazing. The buffet is okay like everyone said. It's a bit on the pricey side but the food isn't bad. Seats were pretty close, didn't realize how fast foul balls drop right behind home plate. Bring a glove just in case!

If it is your first time, do it right, do the buffet. Get an EARLY reservation for the restauarant so that you can be in your seats for the Opening Day festivities. Reservations are usually accepted on a first-come basis 5 days before the game. Odds of getting outside seating on Opening Day are SLIM! The buffet is nice, but not great if you are looking for a ton of selection. It usually includes a few salads, soup, cheeses, fruits, hors-d'oevres, two sides (potatoes and things), hot veggies, a chicken dish, a fish dish, a carved meat, and either a second carved meat or a pasta type creation. You can also order steaks and other meals instead of the buffet in the Diamond Club restaurant.

If it's not your first time there, enjoy the outside air and service. If you want, try and get an outside table later in the game for desert instead.

I scored some diamond club seats last year (from a company that had season seats to give as perks to clients).

I'd recommend eating a meal beforehand and just getting snacks and beverages in the in-seat service. We ended up getting sushi rolls and wine -- it was pricey, but it was a very interesting change of pace to have wine and sushi at a game.

The game we went to ended up being a pretty good one too, and it was pretty sweet to watch in person uninterrupted. (Summary: Santana gave up 5 runs, Trout had 5 RBIs, Bourjos scored the winning run on a 9th inning wild pitch)

Buffet? Sushi in the diamond club seats at Angel Stadium?

Pass!

I would sit my butt in that seat and soak in the environment as much as possible. If a server came by I'd order "2 big beers and the finest grilled wiener you sell. Slather it in spicy brown mustard and relish, if you please!"

Most seem to be on the right track and in agreement. I have been quite a few times and this would be my take:

Pass on the buffet. However, if you get the chance to do the upstairs one before games I found that to be a lot better. It just seemed limited and underwhelming.

If I remember correctly the in seat menu was similar or the same as the club level. Some special items, but a lot of regular items you could get but they mark them on in seat service.

One time I had a business meeting in there and I found out about the menu Saltzer mentioned for table dining. I would recommend that as well. I don't remember the pricing, but the menu wasn't bad for being at a baseball game.

You'll have a blast. The easy in and out access, the close and easier to get bar in there, and the great view make for a good experience.

Buy a drink from the bar when you first get there. The in-seat service gets a little backed up at the beginning of the game. There are usually free peanuts/popcorn buy the 1B entrance to the bar in case you want a little free snack too.

Stadium employee here: Reservations to the Diamond Club is done 3 days in advance only, so whomever mentioned that they are probably all reserved is wrong. They do two seatings, early and late; and they both have advantages.

early seating: Usually is less crowded (although being opening day, don't expect this), but it's easier to focus on your meal and get a relaxing atmosphere watching batting practice. Keep in mind that at a certain point, you will have to give up your seat. This is the best option if you would like the Diamond Club experience and still use your seats

Late Seating: Most prefer this and for one main reason: squaters rights for the entire game! With second seating, you have the option to stay at those seats the entire game, but you are required to purchase items to do this. Keep in mind, because you are closer to game time, it WILL get hectic, so bare with the servers/kitchen as they will be slammed.

Either way, most will opt for the buffet because it is quality food and worth it for the quality/quantity and the opportunity to sit on the patio. The a la carte menu is top notch as well, but again, remember the service may be lacking right before first pitch.

Making reservations: ESPECIALLY for opening day, call the SECOND the lines are open for reservations and prepare to hold for a long, long time. And whatever you do, DO NOT HANG UP. you will lose your queue in line. If you are lucky enough to get reservation right away, always opt for the patio seats; they are the most popular because of the view.

New sushi vendor this year and they are top notch. I was lucky enough to try them and they are leaps and bounds better than last year.

So if you are saying call three days prior for reservations.  If the game is tuesday, that would put it at saturday to call.  Are you guys open saturday to take reservations? Or would it fall to default of Friday?

It's 3 normal business days including the game day. So a tuesday game would be friday to make the reservations. Any Friday, Saturday, or Sunday game will be Wedesday to make reservations.
