mattingly probably thinks greinke on normal rest is better than nolasco to the point that is makes up for Kershaw going on short rest. 

 

I can't disagree. 

 

Short series.  Got to make sure you get it done.

I think Kershaw on short rest was absolutely the right decision.  When you have the best pitcher in baseball and a chance to close out a series at home, you go for it.

what an idiot.  90 pitches and his spot was coming up in the bottom of the inning.  How do you not let him go out this inning knowing full well that his next start (if there is one) would be on full days rest

Yup. Puzzling move, for sure. Would love to know if it was Mattingly's decision (he's certainly made his share of puzzling moves) or if it came from higher up. If the Dogs lose this series, people will be talking about this decision forever.

I'm late on this thread, and it could still end up a moot point. But I wondered the same thing and asked my dodger buddies abiut that. Ibwonder if its sort of a PR move trying to hedge bets to ein at home for the fans?
