I disagree, that's pretty uninformed take. That ranking is a product of forward momentum and not having lost. While we did beat Washington in a truly crappy setting, the Ole Miss team is not good and we didn't look good vs. Davis or UNT.

Also, now Garbers is out. No good.

And sure enough, ASU deals Cal their first loss.    If only Garbers had been healthy.    That said, the Cal defense was run over by ASU's run game, which controlled the game's tempo in ASU's favor.

Utah is ranked #12 now, and their D is crazy good.   They've only allowed 52 pts in their 7 wins.    USC somehow went off for 30 on them, and dealt them their only loss so far.
