That is the thing. I'm not preaching about it. Believing RBIs are a useful stat to evaluate talent is the religion and not evidence-based.

The evidence-based decision is to look at more advanced statistics and scouting insight to evaluate a player's talent.

Fielder was on pace for 100 RBI's when he got cut in 1998. If he hadn't been cut, he definitely would have made this list. Of course, if Mike had been the manager, he never would have been cut, or lost AB's, due to sucking and would have been in there every day until the end of the season because of his prior accomplishments.

Trumbo is having a below average season this year, yet some aren't willing to trade him for anything less than a number 1 or 2 pitcher? give me a ****ing break.

 

He's expendable. The Angels have Pujols. They don't need Trumbo. 

If Pujols gets hurt, they're not going to win with or without trumbo.

Trumbo is a potential non-tender candidate IMO. Not this off season but depending on what he is paid next year and his performance next season, he may be an unattractive option in 2015.

I'm sure there hasn't been more than a handful of players that have done that. In 1982, Dave Kingman was 1 RBI short of doing it. He had 37 HR's with 99 RBI's, with a .204/.285/.432/.717
