I mentioned this to my brother this past weekend. Angels trade Kendrick, Trumbo and possibly Peter this offseason, bring in three or four young arms as a return. Then sign Morales to basically be Trumbo minus the ability to play outfield. So we would still have Calhoun in right, Trout in Center and Hamilton in left and Shuck as the fourth OF, which is basically what he is. Or you could sign a veteran to play that role, someone like Hairston or a guy like that. My other dream is trading Howie (although I really do like him) and Aybar, along with Peter, bring in three arms and then you saved enough money to give Trout the giant extension and still be below the luxury tax threshold.

I think Trumbo is the most displaced player on the team. In 2011 he played 149 games at 1B. In 2012 he was pushed out by Pujols and played 101 games in the outfield. In 2013 he's played 119 games at 1B. Next season Albert Pujols will want his 1B position back. Its time to move Trumbo to a team that will give him a permanent position. Colorado would be a perfect place for him to play 1B fulltime for a long time.

Trumbo will never hit 50 home runs or drive in 130, and he will almost certainly never have anything close to a .369 OBP, as Davis does.

In 2013 he's played 119 games at 1B. Next season Albert Pujols will want his 1B position back. Its time to move Trumbo to a team that will give him a permanent position. Colorado would be a perfect place for him to play 1B fulltime for a long time.

I don't follow the Rockies, but I'd imagine they have some good young arms to trade for Trumbo.

Rex Brothers, Jhoulys Chacin and some guy named Tyler Chatwood. I also think that 3B Nolan Arenado a 22 year old Newport Beach ca kid would be a good fit.

They have some interesting options in A ball but not much near-MLB ready which is what we need. There are better trade partners out there with better pitching. However if we trade for position players that might be a different story.

 

Eddie Butler is an option at AA. Jesse Meaux, Rayan Gonzalez and Trent Blank are deeper A ball sleepers.
