Is Congressman Ted Cruz trying to break into acting?

Cool. So repeal it. Don't pass it then not fund it. That's lame.

If there is so much support to change it why don't they just do that? I just see some people threatening to place the validity of our public debt and our credit standing as a nation in jeopardy so they can bypass funding a bill that was voting into law legally.

Our credit standing as a nation is in jeapordy because of our nation's overall spending habits, not just Obamacare.  You are making it sound like that is the only thing holding us back.

I like the condescension in your remarks, like I can't think about this independently. The deficit for the fiscal year ending on Tuesday is going to come in around 650 billion, down about 450 billion in one year and it's about 4% of GDP. The economy is still struggling so there is no reason to reduce the deficit even further as that could really hurt any recovery right now. You also forgot the only reason why US debt got downgraded is because the GOP threatened default two years ago and is now doing it again. The downgrade wasn't because of economics, it was because of politics and that is not the Democrats fault. Threatening default to get desired policy outcomes is pretty outrageous.

This is all just a side show. They will come to an agreement at the 11th hour and both sides will claim victory. My heroes.

The real fun will begin when the US Dollar loses it's status as the world's reserve currency. China will dump its dollars and this country will experience economic hardships that will make the '30s look like a picnic.

There is a reason why Cruz and some of the other deadenders have turned the volume up to 12...because the ACA is ultimately going to work. It is flawed, no doubt. There are some significant concerns, absolutely...but it is a start to reforming the ridiculous health care system that the US had. The amount of money spent, compared to the care provided and the number of people uncovered is absolutely embarrassing.

The initial plans/costs are coming out, and they are LESS than projected according to the CBO. Premiums before tax credits will be more than 16 percent lower than projected.

Provisions like allowing children to stay, disallowing preexisting coverage limitations and lifetime maximums, closing the Part D loophole...are popular. Starting soon millions without coverage will be able to get quality, affordable, healthcare. People will have the freedom to change jobs and start businesses because they won't have to worry about losing their healthcare coverage. Families who currently can't get insurance, or afford insurance, won't have to spend every waking moment panicked that a catastrophic health related issue won't send them to bankruptcy...because now they can.

Perfect? By no means...in a functioning government we'd look at the legislation and make the fixes required, some small, some large.

The folks who say...throw it all away, start over...that's just downright ignorance, no other word for it. Since Truman's time there have been efforts to reform healthcare, and it's failed repeatedly. If this fails, there is nothing...absolutely nothing to replace it in he next couple of decades. Look what it took to get ACA in place. Hell, this was the Republican healthcare plan back in the 70's and 80's. This was the healthcare plan of the Republican nominee before he was the nominee...this was the plan endorsed by folks like Jim DeMint in the past. Why is it toxic now? Why do you have clowns like Ted Cruz pretending to filibuster a bill he pushed the house to pass? Why do you have Republicans comparing this to Nazi Germany?

Because, even with it's flaws, even with it's issues...deep down their biggest fear isn't that Obamacare will destroy the country...but that it will work.

Your last line is absolutely correct.

Red, your numbers are so misleading.  Under the new ACA rules there is no more underwriting.  So chain smoking fatass pays the same amount as 6% body fat 25 year old athlete.  In the past they would pay 2-3x more.  Now the young fit person will pay twice as much as they used to.

Also, enrollments are supposed to go live on Tuesday but the government is not close to being ready.  It kills the health insurance companies because we cannot actually put a persons coverage in place until we receive payment from them.  That includes the government subsidy amount.  The closer we get to 1/1 without valid data from the Exchanges the worse it will be.

The government doesn't care though because they know nobody will believe us when we tell them it was the Exchanges weren't ready.  Everyone will blame the insurance companies, like they have been for years.

They are in way over their heads.

Sounds like you're just afraid it will work.
