GAME 136 - ORIOLES AT ANGELS

ANAHEIM – Adam Kennedy’s two-out, three-run homer keyed a five-run eighth inning, breaking open a close game and leading the Angels to a 9-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles before 24,592 at Edison Field.

The Angels had only nine hits, but made them count. They were 5 for 9 when batting with runners in scoring position. Scott Spiezio had two hits, including a three-run home run off Orioles starter Rodrigo Lopez in the second inning.

Angels starter John Lackey improved to 7-3 after giving up two runs and six hits in 5 1/3 innings, getting help from four relievers, including Troy Percival, who entered the game with two out in the eighth inning and recorded his 32nd save.

Despite the win, the Angels remained 3 ½ games out in the A.L. West behind Oakland, which won its 18th consecutive game. The Angels lead Seattle in the wild-card race by 2 ½ games.
