That was a very emotional evening.   From Usher’s Amazing Grace rendition to Boys II Men’s great anthem rendition, to LBJ’s heartfelt thoughts to everyone in the crowd wearing Kobe jerseys to the players on both teams balling and competing just as Kobe would have.

Didn’t really care who won for one night, the healing process beginning was most important.

21-19 after the first quarter, and then 108-83 after that

The first 3:31 of quarter 4 was crazy.    Lakers outscored the Spurs 21-13 in that short time.   LBJ had FIVE threes alone in that 3:31 (NBA record?), Kuz had two, and the Spurs had three.   Ten threes by two teams in 3:31 has to be some sort of NBA record.

38-11 and heading to showdown #2 with Houston

Disappointing offensive performance in the second half (48 pts) last night, after scoring 63 in the first half.

The Rockets, with Capela out, started a 6-6, 6-6, 6-5, 6-4, 6-3 lineup that played big minutes and especially frustrated the Lakers in the second half with their quickness and 3 pt shooting (19-42 for the game).

Westbrook is still a beast.

The usuals did fine, but Kuz had his poorest game in a while.   Hopefully the Marcus Morris trade rumors (going to that other LA team) didn't get into Kuz' head.

Meanwhile, Darren Collison was at the game, seated next to Jeanne Buss.   Some give it a 50-50 chance that he signs with the Lakers.   But, how long would it take to get the rust out after sitting out 4 months?

I could see both he and Norvell Jr. getting some run by mid year, maybe sooner depending on how they develop through summer league and early season.

I agree.

THT has played 5 minutes, none in 2020.

Norvell isn't even on the Lakers anymore.

Naw, didn't forget him.  He didn't pour in 41 points last night.

FWIW, I put us DC signing at about 80%

That was a fun game.    The usuals came through.

Plus Rondo had with a season high 23 pts, and continues to show surprisingly decent enough 3 pt shooting (35.6% after a career of under 32%) to go with the passing.

59-29 rebounding destruction

Big game tomorrow evening in Denver, heading into the ASB

40-12 record, still 4 up in the loss column on the Clippers and Nuggets in the West

Report: Lakers waiving DeMarcus Cousins

The Los Angeles Lakers are waiving center DeMarcus Cousins, reports ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne.

Los Angeles needed to clear a roster spot after agreeing to sign Markieff Morris off the buyout market earlier Friday. Cousins is likely to be waived after Morris clears waivers on Sunday, ESPN's Bobby Marks notes.

After signing with the Lakers this past offseason, Cousins didn't appear in a game with the organization after suffering a torn ACL during a workout in August.

There really wasn’t a spot for Boogie anyway, even if there was a chance of returning this season.

Morris gives them another frontcourt guy who can stretch defenses (currently close to 40% on 3s).

Annndd, twin brothers now play for both LA teams.   Just another cherry on top of what could be a classic playoff series, if the Lakers and that other LA team meet

Ended up watching the entire thing last night. Vanessa had me tearing up a few times, especially when she said Kobe, and Gigi couldn't be apart, so they were taken together. Safe to assume we all have lost loved ones in our lives, but I can't imagine what it must be like to lose a spouse, and a young child at the same time.
