I see his weight as more of asset than liability.  Certainly, Lou, he needs to get with Julius Randles summer trainer from 2 years ago and get into slightly better shape/conditioning.  However, he isn't a young guy who we need to force feed to add 30 lbs to hang early on, and a guy of that height with that kind of weight understands how to use his body to his advantage.  If he can get on a strength and conditioning program to chisel that body a bit or help the motor last longer, he could have an advantage over guys coming into the league who don't have that bully ability.  I could see both he and Norvell Jr. getting some run by mid year, maybe sooner depending on how they develop through summer league and early season.

THT was someone on my radar a few months back where he was routinely being mocked in the top-15 players in the first round.  Interestingly, I heard it suggested that he has the largest differential between height and wingspan ever measured at the combine (or close anyway).

" While he had a large wingspan, Horton-Tucker measured poorly both in weight and on-court speed.

Horton-Tucker weighed in at 235.4 pounds and had a body fat percentage of 8.4% — which was the eighth worst at the combine. He was the heaviest guard at the combine."

He needs to drop lbs and get in better shape. He's very talented, but exhibited terrible shot selection. He definitely needs to work on his stroke.

Completely agree with you that he needs to get with a trainer to get leaner and develop better conditioning.  I like that he is thicker because it has allowed him to develop the mentality that he can bump guys off to create space, and that combined with his reach will make him a better finisher in the paint.  Excited to see him in Summer league.  Norvell Jr. can shoot it.  Be interesting to see if he can get open looks or can create for himself.

THT's weight isn't an asset. He needs to get in better shape or he'll get eaten alive in the NBA .

Edit: no pun intended

Sir Charles never had an issue.  Granted that was 25-35 years back.

He does need to chisel his body now, maybe go from 8% to 6% fat.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been given permission to speak with Golden State Warriors assistant coach Ron Adams for a position on Frank Vogel's staff, sources told ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk and Adrian Wojnarowski.

Adams, 71, has been with the Warriors since 2014 and is considered one of the top defensive coaching specialists in the NBA.

Vogel was named head coach of the Lakers on May 13. His staff includes Jason Kidd.

Warning:  Incoming PCAA/Big West Conference reference

Adams was Fresno State's head coach in the late 1980s.

Seriously though, it can't hurt to have a defensive specialist coach.

" The club (Lakers) also traded Moritz Wagner, Isaac Bonga, and Jemerrio Jones to the Washington Wizards as part of the blockbuster Davis deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, league sources told ESPN's Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe.

Meanwhile, Washington will receive the Lakers' 2022 second-round pick, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania, while sending an undisclosed amount of cash to L.A., according to The Athletic's David Aldridge.

The moves will leave the Lakers with $32 million in cap space, enabling them to sign a max player in free agency."
