I disagree, the Lakers handcuffed themselves with their dysfunctionality. All he did was provide some details, the big picture was already known.

Ok, so they were that dysfunctional and signed Lebron?  Or maybe this adds to the dysfunction, which it does.

If this was just about anyone else saying or doing what Magic is every Laker would think it's sour grapes and he should shut it but because of what he did on the court he gets a pass from some.  Never mind the fact the vast majority of what he's done as a coach or in a front office capacity has been a fail.

If you're getting paid, I want you 100% committed to whatever it is that you do.  I don't think Magic was.  Did it need to come out this way?  Nope.  Should Magic have owned it and stfu?  Yep.  Moving on.

To me it isn’t even about him owning it.  To me it is about him just shutting his trap and moving on.  He chose the job, he chose to quit, he should have chose to shut the fuck up.  It is the very least you can do with the way he quit.

There are plenty of bad ingredients in this broth.

Magic should have kept quiet, and didn't devote enough time to the Lakers.   He does care about them as much as anyone, though.

Rob Lowe Pelinka is a scuzbum.   NEVER, EEEEVER hire an agent to be a GM?

The Busses do not know how to run a franchise, and their dad has to be rolling over in his grave.

Linda Rambis has no business making any decisions.

And that doesn't even include not having any good 3 point shooters.

Assuming Magic's terms were agreed to there's still a certain amount of work you need to put into any job but particularly as the team president of an NBA team.  If he met with Buss and didn't tell her about any of the issues then airs them on TV it makes him sound like even more of a primadonna.

And it would have been, in part, his job to handle those problems. I do hope that laying all of these issues bare will force the team to get their house in order fast. The draft and FA are quickly approaching. Those players looking to move to LA may see the Clippers as the more sound organization that actually has a plan.

What a POS. You're pushing 60, Ervin. Man up.

and ...

1. He wanted to work part-time.

2. He wanted full control.

You have to be joking.  Ervin's perceived level of self-importance is ridiculous.

Sell Busses, Sell!

Could you imagine that?  It would be very similar to asking Arte to sell.  So they sell to some dude who has to pony up $3 billion.  What are the odds that owner is now going to spend like the Buss family who has basically no debt on the team.

Corporations are usually the ones buying franchises nowadays, anyway.    And while yes that means more people involved in decision making, can it be as bad as what the Buss family has become?    A bunch of either ill informed people or egos, when it comes to basketball, is what it's become now with the Busses.

Rob Lowe Pelinka hiring was a total joke.  He was an agent!   Other than negotiations, what does he know about how to work in an NBA FO?

The ENTIRE FO needs to go, and the Busses need to stay TOTALLY out of signing or trading for players, outside of approving those transactions.

Over the last few days there's a few different articles that continue to give the Lakers organization the wrong kind of press:

Reports that Magic used bullying and intimidation while he was team president: https://www.si.com/nba/2019/05/28/los-angeles-lakers-disfunction-magic-johnson

Story about Pelinka saying he set up a dinner for Kobe with Heath Ledger after Kobe saw The Dark Knight but the problem with that is Ledger was dead before the movie came out: https://deadspin.com/lakers-gm-rob-pelinka-apparently-made-up-a-bizarre-stor-1835068334 Seems odd that someone in that position (Pelinka) would make up a lie like that while being recorded.

Lebron's agent supposedly complained to the NBA Commissioner about Walton during the season: https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/lebron-james-agent-added-to-lakers-drama-by-complaining-to-adam-silver-about-wanting-luke-walton-replaced-per-report/

At least the franchise is entertaining even if it is for the wrong reasons.

The way I see it... Earvin has "priors."  He cheated on his wife with hundreds of women.  He's prone to deceiving people. He's used to doing whatever he wants... whenever he wants... no matter what.  AND he's used to getting away with it.

If the bloom wasn't off the rose back then, it surely is now.

And Magic's tv show back in the day sucked too.
