Somewhat interesting Article On Hamilton

Recommended Posts

Look, I can buy that we should never have expected a repeat of his MVP season, but you bet that we had every right to expect something like his 2011-12 performance, when he hit .291/.350/.558 and averaged 34 HR, 135 games, and 4.1 WAR. .290/.900 with 35 HR is what was expected from Hamilton, and those were reasonable expectations.

Let's say he continues hitting well for the rest of the year and finishes at about .250/.750 (he's at .235/.718 now) with 22-24 HR. I think next year the expectation will be well above that, if a bit lower than previously expected. How about .270+/.850+ with 30ish HR? That would be my guess. If that's the case, Hamilton will be the type of player you give a 4/$60M contract to.

David Miller is an idiot. I expected Hamilton to play up to his career OPS+ averages not be some very replaceable .235 hitter. The author makes the claim his second half has been good. Hamilton has had one month of not bad but not necessarily good production and that is this month.

I would not be shocked to find out Miller and Hamilton are related by cousins.

He'd have to hit .340 in September to get to .250.

"He’ll bat between .250 and .290 with 20 to 35 homers and around 100 RBI. That’s pretty good folks. Don’t try to hold him to a career year every year. That’s why it is called a career year. He is pretty good just like he is. Next year he’ll be a little better."

Guys, I smell a Pulitzer.
