We were watching the ESPN top 50 Sportscenter commercials the other day (one of the few things ESPN does very well, btw).

You know them.  You have your favorites....

#3: David Ortiz is wearing Posada's hat.

#2: I forget

#1: Some Yankee slapping hands with all the espn employees, and everyone got sick.

You have the Y2K one, with Patrick and Olberman giving scores by candelight, and Charlie Steiner yelling "FOLLOW ME TO FREEDOM!!"  You have the kid they 'brought up too soon' who said some player sucks.  You have my personal favorite:

Stu Scott (to Evander Holyfield): So, Charlie Steiner says you are no better than the 50th ranked heavyweight..

Holyfield: In the world??

Scott: In Georgia.

And ends with Holyfield, rampaging thru the office, saying, "Charlie, come get your whupping".

But they chose a boring Yankee/Sox one at three, and a Yankee one at #1.

Even when they do something right (Sportscenter commercials) they still blow.

The last game I watched on ESPN was the Dodgers - Cardinals game last week. ESPN cut away from the game (during important parts) to show each of A-Rod's first at-bats of the season. I couldn't believe it. But, then I remembered it was ESPN and A-Rod plays for the Yankees, so it wasn't so surprising.

Arods first game was must see stuff. Considering the white sox sold thousands of tickets after it was announced arod would play and that his first game back was the highest rated yankee game of the year, I'm going to say espn did the right thing

#2 on the list was the John Clayton commercial where he works from home.

They got that one right.  That is a great one... i knew I saw it the other day, just didn't remember where.

My favorites didn't make the list I don't think but I didn't see the whole show.

I like "International Sports Center" where they do it all the different languages and the "Turf Toe" one where they install real grass to replace the carpet.

scott van pelt and stuart scott (?) are in the espn cafeteria behind arnold palmer, who steps up the ice tea dispenser and partly fills his cup, then fills the rest with lemonade. van pelt looks at scott and says "that was awesome!"

i'm glad espn was able to break away from the riveting coverage of whether or not RGIII will play any exhibition games to show their commercials, which along with the 30 for 30 films are the best things the WWLIS has done.

Big buddy is the bees knees. There was one with the Syracuse mascot or some mascot where he walked in and saw something and started to pout or cry.

There is also one where soccer stars are walking around and journalists start falling for no reason.

There are a bunch from the 90's I can't remember.
