Out of the All Star Break

This is how it actually happened

2-1 vs the A's

1-2 vs the Twins

1-3 vs the A's

0-3 vs the Rangers

2-0 vs the Blue Jays

That's a 6-9 start coming out of the break. This is how it easily could have gone.

2-1 vs the A's (this is how it should have gone)

3-0 vs the Twins (we had easy chances to win those 2 games with Shuck's double play with the bases loaded and Iannetta barely missing the go ahead home run)

2-2 vs the A's (when you get out to a 5-0 lead to start the game, you should win)

3-0 vs the Rangers (lead going into the 9th in the first two games and can't hit a leftie in the last game)

2-0 vs the Blue Jays

That's a 12-3 record. We would be in the wild card hunt. My biggest issue with Scioscia is that this team doesn't win these type of games anymore. And I know that it falls on the players so please spare me those comments. All I'm saying is we had a chance to still be in this and we absolutely blew it.

Can't argue with that.

 

Contending teams press harder and put more pressure on themselves to succeed as the season progresses, as the games get more and more important. They grind out games to the last out, they find ways to make things happen. This team for some reason doesn't do that.

 

Even if we did make the playoffs, the kind of team effort we've seen this year is not indicitive of a team that would be successfull in the postseason.

There was a post on here during the ASB about the "sense of urgency" that the club had coming out of the break. It certainly hasn't shown on the field.

Can't everyone see the sense of urgency on Scioscia's face, and in his body language?
