GAME 109 - YANKEES AT ANGELS

ANAHEIM – Tim Salmon’s leadoff home run in the bottom of the eighth inning snapped a tie and lifted the Angels to a 5-4 victory over the New York Yankees before 43,619 at Edison Field.

Salmon’s homer came a half-inning after the Yankees scored four times in the top of the eighth off Angels starter Aaron Sele and three relievers to tie the game 4-4.

Sele had shut out the Yankees through seven innings and taken a 4-0 lead into the eighth thanks to a two-run homer by Brad Fullmer, an RBI double by Salmon and a sacrifice fly by Troy Glaus.

With the win, the Angels remained three games behind Seattle in the A.L. West and two games up on Boston in the wild-card race.
