How confident are we that Scisocia will play the youngsters?

Give Shoemaker a shot. Find out if he can contribute as #5 starter or long relief.  See how his fly ball tendencies play in Anaheim.  We all know that being a fly ball pitcher in SLC is brutal.  Average fly ball is a cheap HR in that park.  Leading all of Milb in innings pitched 145.1, leading AAA in K's 122 and lowest BB/9 in PCL at 1.55.  K/BB ratio is 4.88.  Probably will not happen since he is not a DiPoto reclamation project.

not so much really.

...

Playing two games and sitting out one or playing three games and then sitting out two or coming off the bench late in the game is not regular playing time. Pretty hard for any hitter to get into a rhythm that way.

This is an irrefutable fact. And that is exactly how Scioscia handled Trout in 2011.

LOL! and that's how most managers handle their young call ups when they first get called up. The fact of the matter is, Trout got substantial playing time, or as you put it, that is an irrefutable fact. And the next time he came up, he was inserted in the lineup and has been there ever since.

Check the gamelogs. He rode the pine a lot.

And if he hadn't he would have used up his eligibility for ROY the following season. Scioscia did him a favor keeping his playing time under the limit so he could earn a once in a career award.

Some people here are so eager to pin some blame on Scioscia they can't even see when the guy what is best for a player, his career and goals. One of Trout's goals was to earn the Rookie of the Year. That was not going to happen in 2011, there were not enough games left in the season and frankly he was not earning it with his play.
