Public, self-guided tours of the White House’s East Wing are generally offered Tuesday through Saturday. Visitors can get tickets from their representative in Congress, and if they’re lucky, they may even run into the president or first lady, who’ve both been known to personally greet visitors on occasion.

I don't think he's got the stones to greet anyone who hasn't been vetted for friendliness or verified as a donor.

As long as we can't afford White House tours for the public, we can't afford presidential golf junkets.

March 7th – If you don’t think President Obama is all style and no substance, consider this: In his quest to make the sequester as painful as possible, O has canceled the White House Tours. The savings? $18,000 a week. $18K is less than half a second of O’s debt rate since in office. And this is the same WH that pays over $100K/year for Bo’s dog handler and $277K/year for their calligraphers. The same WH that flies AF1 at $180K/hour with the frequency of us driving to the grocery store. The same WH where O & Michelle just took separate vacations. The same WH where O’s recent golf trip could have paid for 341 furloughed workers. And the same administration that just promised $250 million to the Muslim Brotherhood and is shelling out $50 million for new TSA uniforms. Yet to make another stupid & pointless political point O has no problem penalizing innocent families, many having planned their DC visit for months. To all those people, we apologize for having the most childish, non-serious President in our nation’s history. P

I'd like some proof on the promised money to the Muslim Brotherhood.  I agree that most of the rest is wasteful spending, although the part about AF1 could apply to any president since that's the official plane.  Also, the cost of the president's golf trip was estimated at $1 million.  If that would have paid for 341 workers then it means they were only making $2932.55.  I'm not saying the golf trip wasn't wasteful (although I don't have much of a beef with any president taking vacations - yes, any president) but as usual a republican talking point screed goes off the rails of sensibility.

This is the type of misdirection that gets you sidetracked from the issue. The issue is entitlement spending. That's what sucks up all the cash. Fix the gaping, spurting sliced artery before you bandage the scrapes on the knee.

I guess we can look at it this way.  WH tours @ $18,000 per week = $1 million per year.  Obama's weekend golf trip = $1 million.  It's a wash!
