LA Times: Angels hope Albert Pujols gets on a roll as play resumes after All-Star break

Recommended Posts

Pujols is a career .334 hitter after the All-Star break, and the Angels certainly could use a hot streak by the veteran, but he reports no improvement on the foot and knee issues that have plagued him this season.

Albert Pujols has a .334 career average after the All-Star break, the best mark of any active player and fifth-best in major league history. The Angels would appreciate it if that trend continued this summer.

They can hope to hell and high water. Hope doesn't drive in runs and put homerun balls into the outfield bleachers. I can't count how many times the switch has turned on for Pujols, just to find that it had a short circuit. Not criticizing your writing, you write very well, and I enjoy your articles. However, we have been hearing from Albert all about the various excuses as to why he is not living up to his responsibilities and pay grade.

He had 4 quality at bats last night. While I don't expect him to hit .330 for the rest of the year, .280 with some pop would be nice. If Josh could hit around the same, it would make a dramatic difference for the team.

280 with some pop from those all season and we'd be 5-6 games better than current. We'd be in a playoff race looking to add a starter at the deadline.

Pujols will continue to hit .250 until 2014 when he hits .230, 15HR's.

He will every now and then show spurts of greatness but not often enough to be noticeable. I laugh every time he stands at the plate and stares at his solo home runs like he'd just accomplished something amazing before he begins hobbling around the base paths. Albert is all about his 500th homer.

It's amazing what people are now willing to accept from Albert Pujols. Two years ago he was expected to take the Angels to another level and carry them to a championship. Today .280 with some pop is acceptable and laughable. If we just needed .280 with some pop we should have just kept Kendrys Morales.

On a bad knee and with plantar fascia, .280 with 30 homers would be quite an accomplishment. I still believe, if he is healthy, he will bounce back next year.

Bobster he would have to go on a tear to get to .280 and that's just not going to happen. He should go on the DL and get his current injuries healed because other injuries are sure to follow. He hasn't hit well since last August.

I didn't mean that he was going to get his BA up to .280 for this season. I meant that it would be nice for him to hit .280 for the rest of the year. If he had hit .280 this year with 30 homers, that would have been acceptable given his injuries. He has obviously been a huge issue for us this year, continuing to stink it up in the 3 spot. Which is why a marginal increase in performance from he and Josh for the rest of this year would make a big difference. I also would not mind if he went on the DL and get healed up, but "That's just not going to happen".
