GAME 95 - MARINERS AT ANGELS

ANAHEIM – The Angels welcomed in the first-place Seattle Mariners, then promptly treated their guests to a 20-hit attack in a 15-3 Angels victory before 43,407 at Edison Field.

The win moved the Angels to within three games of the Mariners in the A.L. West.

The Angels led, 6-1, after five innings, but broke the game wide open with an eight-run sixth inning.

Tim Salmon led the Angels’ offense, going 5-for-5 with five RBIs, including his 15th home run of the season. David Eckstein and Garret Anderson each had three hits for the Angels, who got at least one hit from 10 different players.

Angels starting pitcher Ramon Ortiz cruised to his ninth win of the season, giving up two runs and seven hits in seven innings, striking out eight and walking two.
