Is Jace a CF ?

He’s playing CF for Texas A&M I believe. He’s a plus defender in the corners and will  likely be average to good CF in the majors. I don’t think he’s an elite defensive CF like Keirmaier but he’s probably Trout like defensively. Right @taylorblakeward?

Wait. So the Nationals are getting the #1 pick?

@Second Base

They had a good chance but come the actual fuck on.

It’s narrative, man. MLB wants the good story because it puts butts in seats and eyes glued to their streaming service and subsequently, money in their pocket.

Jackson vs Ethan, Orioles vs Nats, Matt looking on. It sells.

The Angels just aren’t that compelling in this circumstance, so them getting the second pick is a huge victory. LaViolette may be shades of Aaron Judge.

they'd have drafted Jace at #1 anyway.

The Nats could take him #1. That’d leave Holliday for the Angels so it’s a win win.

let's go! are you going to write it alphabetically or numerically?

Crap I literally meant to write if they don’t get a top 3…guess I better stick to my word and get to writing. Original has to be number 1 right!?!

The one concern with LaViolette is the swing and miss, as scouting reports generally say.

If that continues, do the Halos go the “can never have enough pitching” route, and take someone like Arnold or Bremmer, ranked right after LaViolette?

This time two years ago, some folks didn’t have Skenes going until the 4th or even 7th pick either on some mocks. A lot can change, so a dominant arm could emerge in that slot.

In some ways I am kind of glad they got #2 instead of the top spot, because regardless how good Holliday winds up being, there’s going to be a decent amount of pressure for him to go 1-1, and the Angels can avoid being in that position.

As long as they take one of the top 3 nabes we see up there, I’d call it a win.

Perry will pick someone that should be a second rounder so he can save money for his 9th pick.

My Ass you can't do that with the 2nd pick overall.  It's a 2 man race you have to get one or the other . Ps I see your sarcasm

Weren't the Angels able to sign Caden Dana using their draft slot savings? Why is that a bad strategy? I don't follow the draft closely enough to know about all the players, but it seems like the MLB draft is much more random than other sports. Isn't getting more bites at the apple good?

I have heard of Holliday, and that he's a generational talent in the Griffey, ARod, Harper mode, but haven't really heard much about anyone else.

I don’t think it’s a bad strategy at all, especially when you have a really bad or really thin farm. Statistically, the odds are not dramatically different when it comes to getting a perennial All Star or an above-average regular in the early rounds once the first handful of prospects goes off the board.

Picking 1-2 though kinda bucks that though. Not much reason to try and save money with that pick unless the draft is incredibly deep or there’s a very specific player you want/have a relationship with, so not sure that strategy will be present this time around. A lot can change though.

Jerry Dipoto has to be sky high right now...

From 15th to 3rd with a winning record is pretty awesome.

I still think the lottery is dumb even though the Mariners got incredibly lucky.

This is the guy that signed Baldoquin over Vlad Jr. despite all of the available information regarding both.

Dipoto is fully capable of drafting another "Sam Bowie".....which I hope he does.
