If he can just throw $60M at a problem to have a better quality of life, I don’t see why he can’t also do that with his baseball team.

Even investing 10% of that into proper infrastructure in baseball ops would result in profits 10x that amount (between money saved through successful PD rather than having to sign mid-tier free agents, better team = more people going to games, etc.).

My friend works for a nonprofit that serves homeless people in Illinois. $60M could fund his organization for like 100 years.

My friend works for a nonprofit that serves blind Siamese twin homeless people.  $60m could fund his organization for 500 years.

Except I’m telling the truth.

He could literally buy apartment complexes for each of his minor league teams to have free housing if they chose to.

It's not your money.  What other people chose to legally do or not do with their money is not our business.

Hey home owners, how many of you would want them to build apartments behind your house?

If you had the ability to stop that from happening would you stop it?

In mid 2018 we were looking to move from our townhouse to a house.  Didn't make the move but one of the houses we looked at was a modest single story house built in the 60's which is the norm for many of the tracts in our area.  About 3 years ago one of the neighbors next door to that house on the eastern side built a 2 story monstrosity that took about a year to build and blocks the sun until it's overhead.  Hindsight being 20/20 with where housing prices went I wish we made a move but not to that house because we would have had to deal with construction noise for about a year and lose sunlight for a lot of the day.  If I had f you money I'd definitely buy neighboring houses or property if it meant no one would obstruct my view, add high density housing, build an eye sore or do something else I wasn't a fan of.  Even if you don't have that kind of money I know people who live in areas where you can buy good size lots and they've purchased neighboring lots to ensure they keep a view, their peace of mind, etc.

Yes.  That you are mentally trapped by being jealous of other people’s money, and really generous with other people’s money.

Who says I’m jealous? You’re projecting. You wish you worked hard enough in your life to be a billionaire, but you didn’t.

Yet this is public information. You don’t get any extra treasures in heaven by white knighting for uber rich people.

Any one catch this part in the end?

"The L.A. Angel’s owner is now embroiled in a legal battle after he and his wife backed out of buying a New York penthouse for $34 million"

Imagine if Arte was willing to put even $30 million into the team, not on free agents, but on infrastructure. Our analytics department could finally step up, development would improve, and Perry might even get a few AGMs to support him.

my former B-I-L did that. they bought a house with a great view of the lake that went through an empty lot. decided they wanted to keep that view so they bought the empty lot as well.

this was in very rural nebraska, so it was slightly less than $60 mil.

so they serve homeless people to the blind siamese twins? why? and what do the blind siamese twins do with the homeless people that have been served to them? that's weird.
