I see an INF bat signed..Adames is who I hope for, Torres would be ok too.

So if you go Torres ,you are thinking Moore is not in the plans for second? Torres hasn’t offered to move positions.

Well there have been reports of trying Moore in other positions so I don't see it as an issue. Moore is a prospect, Torres is an established major leaguer.

You make it work.

I think the Angels were finalists for Sugano before, and I think they might get him too. But beyond that, I think this is largely the roster they go into Spring with.

Someone agrees.

Moore could become a corner outfielder if we secured a second baseman like Torres that doesn’t want to play elsewhere. Developing Moore as a third baseman seems like a possibility too, although maybe risky.

There’s also the pipe dream that Moore could headline a trade that brought back a true Ace like Garrett Crochet, in the event a guy like Torres or Adames is signed.

Actually agree, My take on second is one of the Kim’s. I want defense for all these ground ball pitchers. Also when Moore was drafted it wasn’t about elite defense so let’s get some free agent defense  and put him in outfield . I think it’s the way to go.

Kendrick wasn't that great of a defensive 2nd baseman when he first came up. I think him and Moore have a lot in common so I'd stick with him at 2nd base until he proves he can't handle it rather than waste money on a replacement you don't need. The outfield is crowded enough and the easiest position to find replaceable players. The Angels need infielders.

Back on topic. I’m thinking Anderson trade to free up money. Money spent in the infield .

How about a trade with BOS....Adell/Silseth for Casas maybe? It would be nice to get a big Lefty bat. Maybe Kavadas can be that guy? Flip Schanuel for some pitching?

There is no reason to trade Anderson, whatsoever, to weaken the pitching for another backup infielder.

Or, play the guys we've got and see them develop into better players than a series of half measure trades.

Didn’t say a backup.

Continue to sign talent, playing time will almost always take care of itself. I wouldn’t hesitate signing Torres for two years just because we drafted Moore last year. That type of thinking is problematic. Torres allows you to develop Moore, trade Rengifo and not give up a pick.

Or, keep Rengifo, develop Moore and not spend more for what you already have. You guys have hot stove fever.

Sure keep Rengifo, as if it’s up to the Angels on if he stays after 2025. He also has, as you’ve pointed out, been injured quite a bit lately.

Also @Blarg if it was completely up to me I wouldn’t spend much on anything I couldn’t flip to a contender and wait out the development of the recent draftees.  It was the organization that said they plan on competing and have been the most aggressive team in the off season by a long shot.  That changes everything.  I’d prefer not to half ass it, so if you are giving $63 million to win now with Kikuchi, spend money on an offensive need, which is the infield at either 2nd base or 3rd base.

I still like Torres on paper.  Not sure of how he's thought of as a teammate.  I do find it a bit odd that he's entering his age 28 season, has been an above average MIF with some power, runs well yet only projected for 2 years.  Maybe it's his defense or his attitude.

All of that plus the Yankees don’t let guys get away who they like…

I think it’s because he hasn’t really lived up to expectations, and there would be some hope on his/his agent’s part that he might flourish in a new place and then hit the market at 30 looking for much bigger money. He’s been mentioned around one or two years, with two basically being the likeliest as it gives him something of a better payday if he winds up falling flat. 2/$30M or so seems a fair amount for both team and player.

The one thing that I would do is to pay off Rendon's deal and try to deal him anywhere.   I know he has no value, so the Angels will have to eat that contract, and then attach it to someone that has value, like Ward and Detmers.  I'd love to see Arenado playing 3B for the Angels, but I think it would take a Christmas miracle to get him here.
