Angels Next Move/Angels Biggest Move

What do you think the team does next?  What do you think their biggest move of the off season will be?  
 

I’m going to say their next move will be for a reliever and I’m going to take a guess and say it’s Ardolis Chapman on a one year deal.

For their big move I’ll go with Blake Snell on a 5 year deal.

I could be wrong but I don't expect any huge moves. I know the popular view is that their moves so far look like a prelude to something big, but I still don't see it. I think Perry's moves could equally be interpreted to be adding much-needed depth to raise the floor a bit. The plan is--or should be--to wait on bigger signings until the young guys pop some more. In a best-case scenario that happens this year and, with the new depth players (and probably some more small to moderate additions) and a healthy Trout, and the Angels could be on the outskirts of competition, especially considering how wonky the AL West is. But I still think (or hope) Perry waits on any big signings until we have a better sense of how good the young core is, because right now it is still unclear.

I think the big move will be Clay Holmes at 39 mil over 3 years, with 5 mil defered

small move will be Montgomery, with us taking 8 mil off his salary.

Sandy and Suraez will be DFA.

The real answer is they probably add Matthew Lugo to the 40-man and DFA someone.

But my actual answer is also the answer to the second question.

Based on recent history, I’ll say they sign a SP who rejects the QO.

They did it with Syndergaard before the deadline to accept the QO. They did it with Anderson on the deadline for accepting the QO.

Pivetta, Martinez, or Severino.

Next move Yoan Moncada 1 year hope fore a rebound. 
Big move would be front of rotation Snell . Note front of rotation fill this year not much opportunity next years free agents.

From MLB to most sportswriters and experts, the consensus is that the Angels aren’t done yet and that more moves are coming. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of additions they try to make. At a minimum, I do think they’ll end up with a middle-of-the-rotation arm.

I also believe the Soto market is holding up the overall market. Once that deal gets done, we’ll most likely see a fair amount of moves happen.

I think the Angels were finalists for Sugano before, and I think they might get him too. But beyond that, I think this is largely the roster they go into Spring with.

Flaherty will get more 4/88, or 5/110, Snell less 4/120 or 5/140. 

I mean, Adames is an expensive add when you have Rendon there at 35M. 

Chapman could happen.

This trade with the Reds could happen. Might be two minor leaguers. Something like Ward, Bachman, Klassen, and Suarez for India and Williamson.

Take Williamson out of the deal and replaced him with someone like Richardson and take Klassen out of the deal, and maybe Ward, Bachman, Suarez, and Jadiel Sanchez or Niko Kavadas...

I think making a trade for a 2nd baseman frees up the flexibility to spend the rest of the money on SP. 

Unless of course you trade away some depth somewhere else, ie Ward...then you will need to replace that depth in free agency.

Torres is projected at 2 years and $36 million. I think for the Angels it would cost other a third year option or 2 years around $40 million.
