Now it feels like they’re just trying to get away with as many as they can before the league starts shutting these deals down next CBA or whatever.

What are they “getting away” with?

FIFY.

I don't see why anyone on the owner side would want to shut this down.  And obviously no one on the player/agent side will want to.

It's the state politicians who will want to shut this down.

It feels like it’s not that others teams don’t do the deferral method, it’s the players that only want to do it with the dodgers.  Maybe it’s the incentive to get a ring?

For the life of me I can’t think of a realistic LH bat that the Angels could add in a position of need via trade or FA… the one thing that KIND of makes sense based off Perrys comments and reports about them wanting a left handed power hitter, is Anthony Santander. I’m not saying we should or shouldn’t but it’s the one thing I can see Arte wanting and spending big money on. He’s a switch hitting power hitter, Adell could move to CF and they could move off of Ward. Arte gets his “big ticket FA hitter” for 4 yrs- $80million… Again its not what i would want them to do but I could see Arte push for it.

The only way id support this is if they turned around and immediately traded for a TOR after signing someone like Santander

IIRC that's the same years and dollars we used to sign vladdy...

Might be a redundant question but where do they get all this money from?

it's been a few years, but the last dodgers home game i went to they were charging $18 for a tall boy beer. given x for how many drunks there are at a dodgers game, x(18) = $billions over an 81 game season.

with all this deferred money, we're going to have an ohtani day and edmons day to go along with bobby bonilla day.

Santander and Conforto?

Santander and Ward

The biggest takeaway for me is the advantage Ward has over Santander on xwOBA. Hard to see why it makes sense to pay twice the money to move off Ward and onto Santander

Idc what those fielding stats say for Ward, he is not a good defender in anyway nor does he have a good arm. He is the slowest and most lackadaisical mf to play LF. Not saying Santander is better but I've watched enough Ward defense in left for the past couple years to know he is nothing more than just average at best

I’m curious what they do with Reid Detmers.

Perry excluded him from the Kikuchi/Soriano/Anderson/Hendricks group and essentially lumped him in with the Aldegheri/Bachman/Dana/Silseth group.

So, on one hand, that’d lead me to believe he’s not firmly in their plans and they’d be very open to trading him.

On the other hand, if you were gonna trade him, it would seem like you’d want to prop up how you view him and include him in the first group so other teams don’t think you’re as down on him.

I'm sure they're dangling him in trade talks but at the same time they're expecting a nice return, as they should. His stuff is too good to give up on him.
