The debate will rage once more. Here is my view. Pete Rose IS already in the Hall of Fame by virtue of his records. Pete Rose should NEVER be **honored** by the Hall of Fame because he gambled on baseball.

 

Nothing would destroy a professional sport like the uncertainty of predetermined outcomes due to gambling. It would turn into professional wrestling. Gambling is THE unforgivable sin within a sport.

Before you get too morality police, look at some of the convicts that have been in the hall for decades.  Also, stadiums have sports books in them. Not Big A of course, because we suck at that too.

Yes, and those sports books are for fans to place bets, not managers of the teams playing or the players.  The commissioner is not going to ban us as fans for placing a bet.

Then they should be banned. It isn’t too much to ask for guys not to bet on the game they play for a living. Go bet on Football.  It’s a very low bar we are asking from players.
