My point is: Dipoto is a scout/minor league guy first and foremost.  Let him sell some big league pieces (Vargas, Downs, 1 or 2 of: Iannetta, Frieri, Trumbo, Kendrick) and look at the talent he will bring back.  Hell he turned 2 1/2 years of a struggling Haren into Skaggs and Corbin.

If we really want to see what Dipoto is made of, let him do what he does best.

I agree, I'm just saying that maybe he's not cut out to be the GM, but instead a guy running the farm.   That's still a very good position to have.    He just hasn't made many moves as GM that have worked out.

I think he has to be given more of a chance. Again, we really don't know whose decisions were for Pujols and Hamilton and I'm not calling those acquisitions failures yet.

I agree with many of his decisions although his thumb is looking brown now rather than green. I think the injuries to Hanson/Vargas/Madson/Burnett have hurt him almost as much as Pujols/Hamilton. I think his priority has to be strengthening the minors. Did we sign that kid? Last thing I heard we were on the last day for signing him. Sorry, I don't remember his name.

We signed 38 out of our 39 draft picks.  Very solid draft given our $$$ limitations and positioning.
