He doesn't fit the mold of a bad pitcher having a good start against the Angels. He's having a very good year. The former Notre Dame WR (Jeff S) is having a good year too and he'll probably pitch well against the Angels on Wed.

Sophomore slump it looks like.  He tanked in 2011 with a 1.491 WHIP, but in '10 it was 1.081 and last year 1.199.  So basically, he's been good and is getting better as he develops.

 

I missed the game tonight so I didn't see how bad they actually looked against him, but usually the cysomerandompitcher threads are started sarcastically for dudes like Bud Norris.  Wood has legitimately been one of the best pitchers in the NL this year.

Yes, I agree. As soon as I saw it was lefty that most of the Angels hitters hadn't seen before, I knew we were screwed.

Because after 3 years of college and 4 years in this org, Richards is still very inconsistent.

I hope that consistency finally arrives, but nothing he's doing suggests that is impending.

i don't think that's happened yet. the guy should be a starter, not a reliever. put him in the rotation for a year and let's see what and how he does.

I would most definately agree with that.     We have plenty of relievers, and starters are harder to find.

Stick with him in the rotation, starting off at SLC to build endurance and then promote again in about a month, and give him through all of 2014 (age 26 by then).
