I love Guillermo Del Toro so I will definitely check this out, but the marketing of this movie makes it seem like a Transformers movie. I'm sure there's more depth to it than a Michael Bay film, but I'm leaning more towards waiting for a Blu-Ray release.

I agree.  I don't care for the trailer or even the commercials, but you know Guillermo Del Toro is going to deliver.  The reviews have been solid (85% fresh), so I will most likely check it out in the cheap theaters.

Not sure on this one.  Looks like it should be ok.  But reminds me too much of Transformers meets Battleship.  When I first saw the previews, thought it might be a robotech type movie.  But it's too Transformery for my tastes.  (Not a transformer the movies fan)

I'll echo what others have said: initially I wasn't too interested because it looks too Transformer-y, but with Del Toro helming it and the good reviews, I'll check it out in the cheap theaters.

My daughter really wants to see it but the previews have done nothing for me. Kind of odd since the ideas of giant robots vs. Giant Godzilla type mosters is something I would like.

Has anyone seen this?  My friend saw it, and said it was excellent.  Years best sci fi movie, and they don't like sci fi.  So now got me curious.  Might check it out tomorrow.

It's getting great reviews and they say it has a great storyline and dialogue...can't wait to go see it.

This was an interesting movie.  Of the three that went to go see it, one of us didn't like it.  

 

I first thought it would be a Transformers meets battleship movie.  But it was more of a Godzilla meets Real Steel type movie.  Being Japanese, riking Godzira is in my DNA.  

 

I think for those that like those Godzilla/Monster movies, you would like this movie.  But it's definitely not for everyone.  This movie will probably do better overseas in Asia.  And it has the possibility to be a prequel to a Godzilla movie if they wanted to go in that direction.

Hmmm...Gareth Edwards is directing that? He did Monsters from a couple years ago which is essentially like an indie, low budget take on the aftermath of a Godzilla type movie.

I saw it on Saturday. Loved it. I thought Del Toro brought just the right amount of fun to it to make it way better than it might have been in another director's hands.

 

If you like the Hellboy movies, you will like this one.

That's too bad, because you could really tie in this movie to Godzilla and it would make perfect movie sense.

They could tie this movie in with the Tsunami/Fukushima disaster since Godzilla originally came from a nuclear incident. Should be interesting to see if they go in that direction.
