What to do with Pujols?

What should the Angels do with Pujols?

  1. 1. What should the Angels do with Pujols?

    • Let him play it out for the rest of the year and get surgery in the offseason
      2
    • Let him play as long as the Angels have a chance to make the playoffs
      23
    • DL him now for a couple weeks, see how he does when he comes back
      25
    • He's killing the team - surgery now and we'll see you in 2014, Albert

This is kinda silly as if a team can just arbitrarily DL a player that is under performing.

Until the medical staff concludes playing on his foot would cause season ending damage or determine he can no longer play then Pujols stays on the roster.

As long he is on the roster and the options are stiffs like Brad Hawpe then play Pujols.

Simple as that.

Teams do DL players that are under performing (if they don't have the option to send them to the minors).

They must have a team physician sign off on an injury and/or approval of the player and players union. Right now Pujols wants to play so there would have to be overwhelming medical evidence to support him being put on the DL.

If is silly, Mudville, then over 70% of respondents agree with the silliness because they voted for either of the second two options.

I voted for the second option, by the way. I don't think a couple weeks of rest would do much and agree with arch stanton: it isn't just the fasciitis, its his swing and bat speed. Albert just isn't as good as he used to be, plantar fasciitis or not.

The premise of the poll is that Pujols is injured and under-performing so he is holding the team back.  Assuming the Angels are still in contention, the only option that makes any sense is, shut him down and get him healthy for next year.

Glad you have the 70% behind you on this, it has really solidified your argument.
