Dodgers close to deal with Chicago

Recommended Posts

Jon Heyman reports that the Dodgers are close to reaching a deal that would bring Carlos Marmol to the LA Market. The Cubs DFAd Marmol, which means that they have 10 days to trade him, convince him to accept a minor league assignment, or release him.

It is noted that the Dodgers and Cubs are tied at 16 blown saves this year, the worst in the National League.

What is the Dodgers thinking here? They are tied with a team in blown saves so to rectify that problem, they trade with the other team to get the guy responsible for their blown saves. Great management there.

This is the kind of deal that is made when you take a senseless organization and give them lots of money to work with.

I had to chuckle this morning when I heard an interview on ESPN Radio with Steve Garvey, who said "The Dodgers are getting back to what they used to be." Really? All I have seen them do is take on payroll by the truckload, hemorrhage games in the loss column and bring up one player who has been great for a month. Incidentally, Garvey is apparently leading the charge to get Puig elected as a starter in the All Star Game.
