Might need to put cat down

My wife has had a cat for over 10 years, it is nearly 11 years old. A real loving cat, but however when my wife has nightmares and get startled, the cat scratches her. However last night, my wife had a bad dream and the cat pull on attacked her, gave her 3 big bite marks and several big scratches on her body. We are worries the cat might do this again and we are making a big move to Washington in a couple weeks. In the past when we have done small moves the cat doesn't eat for a few days. We don't know if we want to give the cat to another person knowing what happened last night. My wife and I are also talking about having a baby and that will not fly with a baby. What do you guys think?

We had a cat that turned mean on us. We went away for a weekend and the neighbor who was caring for him lost the house key. Cat peed everywhere and never seemed to forgive us, then kept it up for several months after the event. We took him to our vet and explained, and the vet put him down.

Talk to your vet about your options.

That vet should have his/her license taken away
