Probably a bit of both.  With those two NOT being with the team, it gives him more opportunities there.  The team already knows Velazquez is solid there and pretty much knows what Soto can do at SS, too--so no reason not to give Urshela as much time as possible now to see if he can hack it.

I think they want to put Urshela at shortstop, because if he's hitting well enough, they'll want him in the lineup every day, and contrary to some articles, he's not really a 2B, but he has played significant time as SS. It's of value to see what he can do at short.

I mean, he's REALLY a 3B, who over the course of his 14-year professional career, has played 80 games at SS, 32 at 1B, 10 at 2B, and 2 in the OF.  Agree with the point that he's not a 2B, though!  Drury has spent much more time there (and in the OF) than Urshela, so makes more sense to have him covering there when needed.

Canning out after 4 2/3.  Looked good again!  Second inning was somewhat shaky, but he got out of it without anything happening--and he was pretty dominant otherwise.  Should have let him finish out the 5th, but good to see him healthy and locked in.

I never like it when a pitcher is rolling along they pull him after two outs. There didn't look like a reason to put Tapera in other than if they had a defined pitch count. I doubt another 4 or 5 pitches would have been a problem.
