Even if they win it won't do anything for a la carte TV. The Viacoms of the world wouldn't be able to force Cablevision to also buy MTV Vietnamese 48 if they want Comedy Central but Cablevision could still force you to buy 35 useless channels in a tier even if you just want TNT.

And herein lies the rub. It's just a matter of who is going to force bundles on us - the content providers or the cable/satellite companies.

Some of them already are doing that.  With Youtube video series like The Guild.  Also, Battlestar Galactica's latest series was on YouTube first before SciFi.  But here lies the rub.  While some can work low budget in this fashion.  In order for a show like Battlestar to continue, it needs the deep pockets of the networks.

It'd be nice to have the option of picking your own channels, and I can see it happening sooner rather than later.

It'll be an issue for people who aren't very technologically savvy to figure out what they want. Think of your parents or grandparents figuring out how to use computers or cell phones.
