I'm a homer/optimist so I like every trade and every young guy who comes up. I was stoked about the Wells trade when I first heard about it. And I've wanted Richards to have his chance as a starter for the last two years

I have been a Richards believer from the start, but I wouldn't expect him to finish the season with a sub 3 era.  He' gonna hit a rough patch at some point.  Granted, i love what he's doing right now, but let's be realistic about expectations for him by season's end.  

 

Maybe 200ip with a 3.01 era

Maybe you should wait to make a decision on a young player until he has some experience at the MLB level.

 

That being said, you can complain about Jeppy as I have - 13 years in the organization is enough of a sample size.

with his delivery and poor command, he'll have outings like this where he has no idea where his pitches are going. I'm still thinking he finishes with a mid 3 ERA give or take, which is fine

I agree, the game is basically already lost. Let him get out of the inning, and see if he can go a few more and save the bullpen

Had he given up a second grand slam the posters on this board would have wanted to crucify Scioscia.

With the number of players left on base we were only a couple timely hits away from catching up.

Richards gave up 5 runs and the Halos scored 5. The bullpen should get some blame too.

He gave up 5 runs to the Astros. I look at that as worse even though he did that in 7 innings instead of 1.
