And his velocity is nowhere nears Sandoval’s and Suarez’.

Yes, but it's worth noting that neither guy relies on their velocity to succeed -- in fact, both came into their own by mastering their change-ups.  The change-up isn't sexy, but it's a vastly underrated pitch.

Then maybe you should go over to Dodgerwin.com since they're do everything right and we do nothing right. 🙄

Your comment makes little sense to me, frankly. What are you expecting? Sign players who are already amazing and have a long track record of success? Or are you just hate-rooting against the Angels? 😂

This team hasn't even reached 82 wins in a season in 8 years. So your joke is kinda funny. Compared to the Dodgers, yes, the Angels do nothing right.

I would have expected FA money to go to offense. But they decided they like Tyler Anderson. So now it looks like either Suarez, Detmers, or Sandoval will be traded for a bat. I would've kept the young pitching.

"Nothing" is an interesting word. I'd disagree, personally, but then, I actually am a fan of the team.

Also, since I am a fan of the team, I happen to be aware that we needed another pitcher since we only have four returning from last year, and relying on minors depth for two spots is stupid. And since those four guys took us to a 6th best ERA last season, I think $13m is actually pretty reasonable, even if - as is very possible - Anderson goes to around a 4.00 ERA (if he's worse than that, it's not a good signing, but if it's better, I'm happy with it).

This is what I've been thinking also. If the waste of a second rounder signals they'll go out and sign, e.g. a Brandon Nimmo, I think it's a good signing. If they don't end up signing anyone else in the QO range, I don't know what the heck Minasian is doing, because that would be incredibly short-sighted to blow a compensation pick signing on Tyler Anderson.

Also, evidently Anderson is motivated by factors other than winning and team culture. The Angels don't have much of either of those.

Maybe just money, and geography.

Maybe he's bitter at the team and philosophy that yanked him while pitching the game of his life.

Oh my bad, you're right, over 3 seasons with the Angels he managed something like .225. I just remember him being so god awful I would've believed you if you said he hit .150. Point is the Angels make players want to just end their career a few years early.

He played until he was 35.
