Kinsler had a .239/.304/.406 slash line with the Angels. If you think that’s great, you’re wrong.

The Angels got Ty Buttrey and Williams Jerez in return. Buttrey in 115 games had a 4.30 ERA with the Angels.

It's not fantastic, but it's certainly not horrible. He also was one of the best defensive 2nd baseman that season. I'd be more than happy if the Angels got another gold glove second basemen that could have a 700+ OPS

He was never a part of the organization.  Perhaps you were thinking of other former Brave outfielder Ryan Langerhans and his memorable stay here?

As if there’s a difference between the two of them.

But nevertheless, thank you for the clarification.

At least with Buttrey all of us here at AW got to see an amazing man walk away from millions to pursue his dream of working at Home Depot.

It wasn’t because he was demoted like those cynics said.  It was because he wanted to do something he loved.

MLB just can't compete with lumber and pipe fittings.

Mo Vaughn and Vic Power.

Mo Vaughn number one on my list -- geez - he slipped and fell on the dug out steps his first or second game. Then when he did come back he was absolute poison in the clubhouse.   Mo Vaughn had great stats in Boston and came here with heightened expectations , got hurt day one, and went down hill from there.  Pitching - Kent Bottenfield - we gave up Jimmy Edmonds - who remains on all the highlight reels with his catches in CF (along with the great Torii Hunter).

No gary matthews jr mentions?

Guess it makes sense cause he only had one decent year with texas and got a fat contract because of it.

holy shit i get angry just thinking of that idiotic acquisition by the angels. Arte Probably saw that one nice catch with Texas and forced our "GM" to sign him.

Horrible contract, but that was a Stoneman signing all the way. Even the great ones make mistakes and that was a Stoneman mistake.

That was year two for Lee Smith.  The frustrating about year one (1995) is that he was blocking Troy Percival.

He was mentoring Troy Percival that was a rookie pitcher that season. That was the Angels plan all along. Even so Percival saw 62 games as a reliever in 1995, same exact amount as in 96 along with innings pitched.

RP Lee Smith (he pitched a whopping 11 innings all season and failed to notch a save)

Smith was traded in May if 96 to make way for Percival to close. He didn't have a save but he pitched to a 2.45 era before being traded.  The Reds used him as middle relief.

2000: 36 HRs, 117 RBI, .864 OPS, 115 OPS+
