WIll the Angels have a new owner before the start of the 2023 season?

I still say no. For two reasons: We haven't heard anything about potential ownership groups (not that we necessarily would) and these things (especially when you're talking billions of dollars) will necessarily take time. Someone isn't plunking down $3B without doing their due diligence.

My hope is that the prospective owner is identified and that the process is "begun."  Financials will need to be reviewed, the other owners will have to vote, etc ..

But for sure this should be done in time for the next offseason.

It's now December 1st. 

I kinda thought we'd at least have a solid list of who's bidding and who's a favorite by now before we head into the Winter Meetings.

Right.  Given the way Arte has operated over the years, with basically no rumors or leaks of information, I figure we will hear about it once he has agreed to sell to someone and it is going to the other owners for approval.  Basically - we will likely only hear at the very end of the process.

Arte probably laid off like 80% of the business people so it will take longer than expected.

In September, I voted yes. Chalk that up to the speeding -train moment at the time. It's Dec. 1. My vote has flipped to NO, this team will NOT be sold by the 2023 season beginning, middle or end. Ditto 2024; Since the stadium deal blew up, the assets are just not there.

if anything, the stadium deal blowing up makes the transaction easier.  And if the stadium deal goes through, I doubt Arte would be selling right now.

I was a yes, then I didn't hear anything for months, so I was a no. And now they're saying they're trying, so I am back to a yes. New Owner may be actually in May or June, but it will be close.

The hope is that all the vetting will be completed and that Arte and MLB can get this done.

If not before the start of the season then the next target date might be before May 1.
