Joe Blanton's last six starts

Was just going to look this up myself.  For all the crap we talk about him, he's been solid for over a month now.

If he maintains a pace of a 4.00ish ERA or less for the rest of the season, I don't think this signing is the trainwreck some want to make it out to be.

4.00 ERA is asking a bit much.  Possible, but unlikely.

It does prove what I've been saying.  He was due to pitch better.  He was a bit unlucky earlier in the season.

It also shows that leaving him in the rotation instead of Williams wasn't the crazy move many said it was.  The Angels made that decision based on who they thought would be better in the future, not who'd been better over the first two months.  Their approach was a good one.

Thank you!  I was about to post how so many thought Scioscia was an idiot for keeping him in the rotation.  Quite often when a veteran is struggling the best move is to stay with the vet.

Not trying to down play what he's done lately but, since he's on a roll (or something like it), I'd consider using him as a trade chip.....a National League team might bite...not sure the return would be much but we might shed the contract and, with the season slipping away, give Richards a look.....
