Blanton WILL display exactly what Cy Young was all about

That stat that really boggles my mind is his 749 complete games.

Are you kidding me?!

That's in 22 seasons - an average of 34 complete games per season. He pitched 7,356.0 total innings, facing 29,565 hitters. He won 511 games, an average of 23 wins per season.

No wonder that the most prestigious pitching award is named after him.

cy young also pitched against the equivalent of today's high school teams.

And in a time where it was pretty common to pitch a complete game most of your starts. I think his ERA over that many games is the most impressive. I think that Nolan Ryans number of complete games is actually more impressive given the era he pitched in.
