Gov. Newsom Lashes Out at UCLA Over Move to Big Ten Conference and Demands an Explanation (msn.com)

Newsom, who has been vocal about his disdain for the conference shakeup, doubled down on his criticism of the move Wednesday when he attended a UC Board of Regents closed-door meeting in San Francisco. The governor demanded a public explanation from the school about its reasoning and how the move will benefit student-athletes.

"UCLA must clearly explain to the public how this deal will improve the experience for all its student-athletes, will honor its century-old partnership with UC Berkeley and will preserve the histories, rivalries and traditions that enrich our communities," he said in a statement issued to the Los Angeles Times.

Hah! The partnership with Berkeley? The big game every year is UCLA vs USC. Berkeley was just another speed bump on the road to the PAC 12 title.

Kiss the credibility of the PAC 12 good bye if this happens.

The PAC would simply become the Mountain West when this happens, unfortunately.

I can’t wait to see these west coast boys playing in The Big House or the Horseshoe in November.  Should be a fucking hoot.

The PAC 12 is credible? The Bruins and Trojans are second-rate at best in football. Your premise holds true in basketball, though..Both programs have improved, with SC having legit Final Four ability.

In football, no. Both have been a speed bump. Good basketball programs, though. The Trojans are stacked and Final Four capable. I think they should have stayed.

Hey, you still have those battles with Oregon St and Wazzu to look forward to.

Hah, yeah.

I think we’ll end up in the B1G ultimately, but it’s definitely not for sure. It only makes sense given the geography and the market.

At this point, I really want it so that the campus doesn’t get completely screwed financially and that athletics can still support itself. The stadium debt isn’t trivial and could affect so many kids and what they’d be able to do while at Cal.

Under Armour paid us $64M not to wear their gear this year.

ESPN reported that Washington and Oregon have already been vetted for the Big Ten, and their admission seems a formality.

With USC, UCLA and now Washington and Oregon bolting, it should be a wonderful Rose Bowl for the PAC-12 representative.

Yawn.

USC athletic director Mike Bohn resigned Friday, a day after The Times asked him and USC about internal criticism of his management of the athletic department.

Bohn made inappropriate comments about the physical appearance of female colleagues, including remarks about their dress, hair and weight, that staff members said made them feel uncomfortable, according to two USC sources with knowledge of the incidents. They spoke on condition of anonymity fearing retaliation. They said Bohn’s comments left colleagues — especially women — feeling awkward.

Three USC sources said several people confronted Bohn about comments they felt were inappropriate, but they continued.

The Times spoke to six USC sources who raised concerns about his management of the department. Several described him as a poor manager who missed meetings he was expected to attend and was often absent from key events
