What happened to Brandon Marsh?

Lots of denial in this thread. Marsh will become a great player. This trade was dumb as hell, but I’m guessing the Angels had no choice but to include someone as valuable as Marsh.

Personally, I think that if Ohoppe works out and is merely a starting MLB C for a good run, and not a total dud with the bat, I'm fine with the trade.

We desperately need to solve C.

Thank you for calling me out. You are absolutely right, and I apologize for committing an act of cultural appropriation for a cheap laugh. I will change the GIF to something else.

A native American imitating an Italian eating pasta in a wife beater t-shirt?

With Trout in CF, Marsh was a luxury, but underutilized as a LF.  This team needs someone like O'Hoppe considerably more than it needs someone like Marsh.  It is not too difficult to find a LHH LFer, but it is considerably harder to find a solid starting catcher.

I think both teams will end up "winning" the trade, in that the Phillies should have a solid CF, and we should have a solid starting C.

Trout is probably still just as good as marsh in CF.  Actually think LF is the right spot for Marsh personally.  He's probably avg in CF and excellent in LF.   I kinda feel like you lose a shade of value by moving him.

Also, Marsh has a .390 babip for PHI with a 3% walk rate and a 30% k rate.  I have no doubt he'll end up being a solid player at least.  Not sure they've 'fixed' him but we'll see.

No doubt. I have high hopes (sorry for the pun) for O’Hoppe. It’ll just be a bummer watching Marsh succeed on another team.
