Interesting video on Hockey Guy, regarding the salary cap and league revenues.

On the Ducks side, might be in our best interest to lock up Terry and Zegras and even Drysdale now long term, than wait one or two years when a big jump in salary cap may be coming.

Poor John Klingberg.  Only top 25 player not linked to anyone.  lol.

NHL Rumors: Filip Forsberg, J.T. Miller, and the Top 30 Unrestricted Free Agents

Maybe they think he's going to resign in Dallas. I don't think he's a guy nobody wants. Is there another reason?

I was looking at his stats.  And what happened early in the season.  Seems he demanded a trade, since he couldn't get an 8 year contract.  So I don't even know if Dallas is in the mix anymore.

He had a high of 67 points in 2017-2018.  Since then 45, 32 short, 36 short, 47 last year.  But the more troubling stat.  6, -10, -15, and last year -28.  His Corsi and Fenwick are still good at in the mid 50's.

This might be a case of asking for too much and too long.  Thus no interest.

Yeah, I don't think Verbeek or a lot of other gm's would be interested in a guy, that's not that special, wanting a trade because he isn't offered a max length contract.

You don't win playoffs with a guy like that. He's a tread water player that will help you win games in season. But, probably never come up big enough in the playoffs to make his cost justifiable.

I'll say this for Manson. He doesn't have the talent, but he played his butt of in the playoffs. Him and Cogliano deserve to have their names on the cup.

Speaking of Manson, is there a back story with him and Maroon? There seemed to be some legit bad blood there

Nope. I'm sure they met. But, don't remember how much their time overlapped with the Ducks. Manson would have been a rookie and Maroon was just happy to be in the NHL at that time.

Maybe they were chirpy because they didn't really know each other from the Ducks.

Well, Manson was an idiot so.  He was getting away with murder out there doing Manson things that the refs weren't calling.  So I'm sure it just got under the skin of Maroon and Perry.

There was plenty gotten away with all around and what was getting under the skin of Maroon and Perry was Cogs and Helm skating circles around them

Trade porn.

Offseason Notes: Chychrun, White, Dallas

Quote

That could change, however, as the Columbus Dispatch’s Brian Hedger reports that the Blue Jackets and Coyotes are talking about a deal. While he couldn’t offer Chychrun’s name specifically, he also reminds that Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen has said that the team could move their 12th overall pick at the 2022 draft in exchange for a young NHL player with term.

The draft is coming so I’ll just add a few notes about the Avs season and then move on to 2023

-Bednar never gets much credit but I love him as a coach. He sets the tone for not whining about officiating or the borderline hits. Just move on and play the game. He also does a great job of mixing up the line and D combos to get the most out of them. One trend the Avs are in on is using skaters on the 4th line as opposed to brutes. Cogs, Helm, and O’Connor skated circles around everyone all playoff long

-My predictions for what they’ll do are sign Keumper and Nichushkin, let Burakovsky walk and essentially swap 2Cs with the Rangers as they sign Kadri and we sign Copp. There’s maybe a 25% chance they trade Girard and make an unconventional move to get a puck mover for the right side who costs a little less that G’s 5 mil. I also think they’ll re-sign Murray at a lower cost to play 3rd pair left side until his inevitable injury

-They’ll have a few players miss the start of next season recovering, start slow, then catch fire, then ease back down to prepare for the playoffs. Then, of course, win another Cup

Of course. I mean, what's your other option.
