Encouraging news.  Finale (if you stayed with it after first segment of credits) set table for spinoff.   Great show, up there with Line of Duty.

I would put Bosch a notch above LoD, but they are very close.

And both are just behind the first @Lou recommendation I ever watched, Endeavour.

finished S6 of Bosch. it was a good season. we started S7, and wish this series ran longer.

Spoiler

J. Edgar has got himself in a world of trouble. I don't really see him fighting his way out of it, either. If I had to bet, I'd say he gets fired, jailed, or killed sometime this season.

found another show called Maloney and Rose. It's probably buried somewhere in this thread on some list Lou made in 2017. It's interesting though a bit intense at times. If you watched Whitechapel then you'll recognize the actor who plays Maloney (he played Miles).

into S2 of Luther. the story lines so far have also been more intense. i want to like Luther more but he's another renegade cop in authority who plays by his own rules and doesn't communicate well to those he works with. it gets kind of tiring that so many police officers are written this way.

I'll check out Maloney and Rose. Where are you watching it?

A lot of these detective shows the main character has many flaws

Very stressful job and extremely difficult on relationships

Just binge watched Dr Death - it was pretty good. Good acting from an all-star cast, but a couple of the directors (or post-production editors) were trying too hard to tell the story in a cool and funky way when actually the story stands up by itself, just my view. The story and timelines jump around a lot, probably more than is necessary, but if you can get past that it's pretty good. Interesting true story behind it all.

Jim Gaffigan: Cinco on Netflix

His fifth stand up special.  I suspect most Gaffigan fans here have already seen this one, but on the off chance you have missed it, or just recently started getting Netflix, check it out.  You won't be disappointed.
