@Taylor  I thought my playlist was really varying.  You apparently watch anything, every week.

And BTW.  Knives Out better be funny.  I'm going to watch it solely on your recommendation.

It really surprised me that my wife and I had been to that many movies. I knew we go to the movies often, but that's ridiculous. I did the math, and thanks to subscription services (we had AMC A-List until September, then switched to Regal Unlimited), we've saved about $600 on movies.

Knives Out is phenomenal. Sharp dialogue, plot twists, great characters, an amazing cast, and it never gets boring. Anyone who doesn't like it should stop watching movies.

By the way, the most recent episode of Mr. Robot is one of the best episodes of TV ever.

Spoiler

It was so, so satisfying. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, and I think I audibly cheered when the hack was successful. There are still four episodes left. I have no idea what's going to happen next.

Also, I loved the Donald Trump cameo at the Deus Group meeting.

Nothing like a guy who owns multiple mansions teaching us about how greedy our country is

Yep. He tweeted this week how capitalism is a failed system and was promptly torn apart by people for how he’s benefitted from that failed system.

The Good Place is terrific.  Binged S1-3 a few months back, and will binge S4 when it's done.

Episode 5 of The Mandalorian was better than 4, but I think the show's writing team (Favreau) doesn't really know what kind of show they were making.  Are they doing a self-contained coherent story arc built on character every season like The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, etc?  Or are they going for a serialized, easy-to-consume-for-all-demographics type show?   Feels like the former rather than the latter to me so far, which is a shame.

I don't idolize Mark Ruffalo or look up to him as some kind of cultural savior. I just recognize that he's a great actor.

This is like saying Albert Pujols' charity for the impoverished in DR is hypocritical, since he's a multimillionaire.

Wow, those are nothing alike whatsoever.

Netflix:  Iron Fists and Kung Fu Kicks  A documovie about Kung Fu in movies.  Pretty much focusing on it's origins and evolution in Hong Kong.  It's really interesting how it evolved, and it's influence on America, and mainly Black America.  And it had Chuck Norris in it, so it's already better than what you watched.  But it's a great cinema history lesson, so history or kung fu buffs would enjoy this one.

A guy who has made millions off of one of the largest corporations in the country is making a movie about corporate greed simply rings hollow

He didn't write or direct the movie. He acted in it. Perhaps it's hypocritical to rail against capitalism when you've greatly benefitted from it, but it doesn't detract from the movie itself.

The movie is based on a true story, and from what I've read, it's pretty darn accurate. It also shows how the government was complicit in the corporation's evil. I didn't see the movie as a slam on capitalism, but a slam on corporate greed.

Again, I'm not going to idolize Mark Ruffalo as a bastion of justice and integrity. He's simply one of my favorite actors.
