A bit about the band and a story first: this band is called Sound of Contact and the drummer/vocalist is Simon Collins, son of Genesis and solo dude Phil Collins.  Definitely sounds like him on vocals and he is a solid drummer.  The music is definitely on the prog side.  About a month ago my brother talked me into seeing Tate-Ryche and Whitesnake at the Antelope Valley fair.  One of my favorite prog bands, Spock's Beard, was playing at the Whiskey but I skipped out on them.  The next week I heard of this band, Sound of Contact, and I liked them.  Turns out that Spock's Beard was opening for Sound of Contact at the Whiskey.  Dammit!

I stopped by Amoeba in Hollywood yesterday and picked up the new records from Jack Johnson and Cage the Elephant.

Haven't had a chance to listen to CTE, but I'm digging the one from Jack.

Nice and mellow like his early stuff. No electric guitar, but the same awesome backing band.

Nice and mellow like his early stuff every other CD he's ever done. No electric guitar, but the same awesome backing band.

Fixed that for you.  He's more predictable than AC/DC.  He's The Offspring of mellow-rock.  If you have one CD from him, that's all you need.

Lol. He definitely isn't very dynamic. The last couple records before this one had a lot of electric guitar.

We are seeing them in December too. I have not heard the new record yet, my wife put the CD in her car and has had it isnce I bought it.

Really every song is good which is rare. This is my favorite from the record probably but that has changed a few times already.

Just saw Caro Emerald on VH1.  Dig this song and the video, good retro vibe and smooth vocals.  And yes, of course I would.

How I initially missed this is beyond me (probably just getting old).  This women's music is awesome.  I love almost all of her songs.  Cool retro jazz feel. By the way, she is Dutch.
