This is neither new or just discovered however I have been going through my MP3 collection and listening to stuff I haven't listened to for a long time.  Really enjoying some old Iron Maiden.

 

Love taking a couple years off of a band and going back to them like they are fresh and new.

I was listening to Powerslave.  Probably my favorite album by them.

Musically, Iron Maiden is about as good as rock music gets... but vocally and lyrically, I don't see them as anything special.

IM has some very powerful lyrics.  Very typical of early/mid 80's metal.

I think Bruce Dickensen was a pioneer in rock(metal) vocals.

I just discovered Kraftwerk. I'm still unsure how I feel about them but I think I like it...

yeah I really dont. Don't get me wrong, he's not a bad vocalist but I think he's limited in what he can do. They had a tendency to repeat the same so so lyrics throughout most songs. But like I said, musically they were so good that it made up for it.

Yea, I certainly won't argue about the lyrics, but vocally I think he's totally original and amazing. But I'm not here to change your mind on anything, just musical conversation.

If you've never heard Jason Isbell, he used to be with the Driveby Truckers but left a few years ago and his solo stuff is just consistently stellar stuff.

The Winery Dogs are amazing - debut album came out July 23 in the US - the trio is Richie Kotzen ( guitar/vocals) Billy Sheehan ( bass) and Mike Portnoy ( drums) all 3 are master musicians but this album has strong , strong songs - not just 3 guys soloing for an hour- best thing I've heard in a very long time

Not that I really love this song, but it's catchy as hell. Plus, shes a kiwi, and at 16 has an incredibly silky voice.
