Here is the problem with bunting PB

I said as much in the game day thread. You really have to question Scioscia's intelligence after moves like that. At least you can understand not pinch hitting for Josh, because Scioscia is very big on feelings and that sort of thing, but jeez. Two absolutely terrible moves by Mike right there.

I don't care how bad he has been this year vs lefties he would have taken a different aproch into that AB. Why the hell not play fundental baseball right there and get the bunt down to have a winning run 90 feet away. Scioscia did this earlier in the game with borjous up he had him hit the ball and he lined out instead of bunting. Borjous is the fastest player in the game he might have ran one of the bunts out. I'm just saying I think we're being too picky right now I want WINS!

It is a HORRIBLE decision. Bourjos is hot right now, Aybar is fast and in scoring position. You are taking three chances for one hit, with Bourjos, Trout and Hamilton. The alternative was two chances to get a hit (or hope for a fly ball instead of a DP) from Hamilton vs a lefty (.150 BA) and Pujols.

Giving Bourjos a chance to end it with no outs or Trout a chance with 1 out is greatly preferable than leaving it up to Pujols with the bases juiced and 2 outs after the inevitable Hamilton K against Furbush

Exactly. I'd like to have three shots at it instead of two. If they get Bourjos to hit into a double play, so be it.  If not, one of your shots  will be with your best hitter... Trout.  With the infielders expecting a bunt, you've got a better chance than normal of Bourjos getting a hit... and there's less of a chance that he grounds into a double play.

Having two chances to get a single with trout and Pb is much better than one chance with pujols.

You can leave Hamilton out of the discussion. With his approach right now there is no chance for him to do anything versus a lefty specialist.
