Simple solution. There is a city in the desert with no major league sports that is about to build a new baseball park. Make the arrangement now and it could be built for MLB instead of AAA. Corner the market on local pro sports, stay in the same division. No territorial problem with the Giants at all.

An MLB park in downtown.  If you want to revitalize the area like the Billionaire is trying to do, that would be one way of doing it, similar to SF and SD.

Several years ago I read a story that said that Reggie Jackson was heading a group who wanted to buy the Athletics and move them to Las Vegas. Selig and his cronies told them "no". After all, who could ever leave that palace of a stadium in Oakland?

It comes down to territory.  If the move to San Jose is within A's territory, I don't see the problem with the move, but if it's within Giants territory like the Giants are claiming, I understand the hold up.

 

 

It comes down to the Giants being a bag of dicks....   Back when the Giants were threatening to leave the Bay area to TB, the A's tried to help them out by signing over THEIR rights to San Jose, in hopes of the team finding a local place to build a park.  The problem is Sandy Alderson didn't write the document so that those rights would revert to Oakland within a certain period of time...  So now that the A's are in need the Giants are being grade A douchebags,

If this goes to court, I can see the Doggies and Angels being dragged into it.  Because it'll be exhibit one that two teams can thrive in the same environment, blowing any theory about territorial rights.
