Was at a Super Bowl party yesterday.

Now that I’ve had a day to soak in the SB victory, I can say that Aaron Donald must have had the same pep talk with the defense at halftime, that he had with them when trailing SF 17-7 with just over a quarter to play.

Discounting the offensive PI/face mask on Higgins on the first play after halftime TD, the Bengals only had 61 yards total offense and six sacks.

McVay finally got away from the RBs carrying the ball with little success on the winning TD drive, only 4 running plays and 11 passing plays.  The RBs were much more successful on catching passes.

Kupp was Kupp, helped on the last drive by the unsung TE Hopkins catching two of his four receptions on that drive.

Stafford made a believer out of me, once he put that three game losing streak in back of him.   The interceptions in the playoffs were mostly not his fault.

It was fitting that Donald forced the 4th down incompletion to end the Bengals’ hopes.   

Downer was OBJ missing the second half after a solid first half.   He has to feel good though about finally getting a SB ring, and contributing a lot to the push towards it (9-1 record after losing 3 straight).

Bengals did get essentially a gift TD to start the second half, as Higgins grabbed Ramsey’s face mask as the ball was arriving.   Should have been 1st and 20 at their own 15.

It evens out usually.
